JOE WILKINS 

 

Guitar, Bass, Mandolin, Ukulele, Drumset and Snare Drum

Joe Wilkins is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter hailing from Cape Ann and has been playing guitar and performing for over twenty years.  Joe teaches Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Drums and  Mandolin and also gigs regularly in numerous local Funk, Jazz and Rock bands including the Cape Ann Big Band, Live Dead (A Grateful Dead Tribute), The Jambalaya Horns, and Funk du Jour.  You can also find Joe performing solo, showcasing his original music and as sideman in various acoustic duos and trios.  Joe is proficient at a variety of styles and genres including, Folk, Finger-style Guitar, Bluegrass, Blues, Rock and Funk. He’s a seasoned player at both acoustic and electric guitar and has an in-depth knowledge of songwriting and lyric composition.

 

 

ZACH GORRELL

Piano, Saxophone, Clarinet

Zach grew up in the North Shore area, where he began taking classical piano lessons at the age of five. Soon after he picked up the Saxophone and developed a passion for jazz and improvised music. After graduating from Ipswich High School, he attended the University of Maryland where he studied Economics, as well as Music.

Zach has studied with local icons such as saxophonist Mike Tucker, piano teacher Margaret Banacos, and world renown jazz instructor Charlie Banacos. He has performed all over the North Shore in a variety of ensembles, from jazz to reggae to pop music.

In addition to performing, teaching is one of Zach’s passions. He has been teaching private piano and saxophone lessons for the past 6 years. Having taught to students ranging from 6 to 65, and in private and group lessons of 6-7 students, Zach is comfortable teaching in a multitude of genres including but not limited to; classical, jazz, pop, rock, r&b, reggae, and funk.

 

 

JOE KESSLER

Violin, Fiddle

Joe has been performing and teaching for over twenty years throughout the Boston area. In addition to private instruction, Joe has been involved in numerous educational organizations, including the after school music program in Wellesley Public Schools, the Mystic Valley Charter School and The Musical Suite in Newburyport. Joe brings enthusiasm and experience to his lessons and is comfortable teaching a variety of ages and skill levels.  They say a violin is the closest thing to the human voice and its fun to get it to sing!

 

 

STEVE LACEY

Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Mandolin and Piano

Steve Lacey grew up in Gloucester, Ma. He has been playing music for over 10 years, performing all around Massachusetts. Steve teaches Guitar, Bass, Piano and Ukulele.

In 2012, Steve graduated from Salem State University with a B.A. in music, having studied Jazz and Classical guitar. Since then, he has been performing solo and with groups such as the Kate Barry band and the Cape Ann Big Band.

In 2014, Steve helped found Sound Harbor. Now living in NYC, Steve is studying Jazz and continuing to teach. He is still connected to the Cape Ann community and will be back in the near future!

RENEE DUPUIS

Voice, Piano

Renée Dupuis is a freelance musician and one half of the duo Renee & Joe, who just recorded their third studio album at Bang A Song right here in Gloucester, MA.  She also plays keys and sings with What Time is It Mr. Fox?, the Susan Cattaneo Band, Todo Bien, and the 80’s dance band SAFETY.  In addition to her rock vocals and harmonies, Renee enjoys singing standards with the Cape Ann Big Band and Compaq Big Band.  A graduate of the Hartt School (BMus, Voice Performance) Renée teaches voice, piano, ukulele and guitar on the North Shore.  She is a resident of Gloucester, MA and delighted to be a part of the Sound Harbor Team!

 

 

ADAM ‘TUGBOAT’ SAYLOR

Bass: Upright and Electric

Adam has been a private music instructor for almost a decade, teaching everything from funk, jazz and classical to pop, rock and blues. He attended Berklee College of Music for his BA in Professional Music. While at Berklee, Adam studied with Matt Garrison (Herbie Hancock), John Funkhouser, Dave Budda, Dan Morris (Buddy Guy) and Lenny Stallworth (Macy O’Parker). Adam also had the privilege of studying jazz harmony & solo techniques with the late, Charles Banacas.

Adam enjoys performing music live and has shared the stage with memorable musicians such as Rich Robinson (Black Crowes), J-Live, Adam Deitch Project, Fabolous, Gary Charone (Extreme), El-P, Sage Francis, Solillaquists of Sound, Lee Scratch Perry, Yellow Man, Barrington Levy, Mighty Mystic, and Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad. Adam continues to gig regularly with his roots/rock/reggae band, Soul Rebel Project, 3Vibe, Kate and the Nouveau Groove and other jazz and funk groups.
